UPSC Mains

UPSC Mains Exam – The Union Public Service Commission conducts the examination for the recruitment of various posts for Group A and B in the Indian Government. The Civil Services Examination is the most prestigious examination that is conducted by UPSC. For the year 2022, the UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination will be conducted from September 16, 2022, onwards. UPSC Exam Eligibility Criteria

The candidate can check the UPSC Exam Eligibility Criteria from here. It is important for the candidates to fulfill the eligibility criteria in order to apply for the examination. In any case, if the candidates are not fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the UPSC exam, they won’t be eligible to appear for the same.

How to apply for UPSC Mains?

Once the UPSC Prelims result is declared the eligible candidates can apply for the Mains exam. The candidates can fill out the online Detailed Application Form (DAF) from the official website i.e. upsc.gov.in

While filling out the UPSC application form, the candidates need to fill the following 6 sections –

  • Personal details
  • Educational details
  • Employment details
  • Parental details
  • Upload the required documents
  • Make a final submission

In UPSC Mains examination, the candidates need to score a minimum of 25% marks in Paper A and B. Check the syllabus and pattern for these qualifying papers below –

Papers which are counted for merit ranking – 

In the essay section of the paper, the candidates need to write two essays out of the given options for a total of 250 marks. According to the UPSC, the candidates are advised to arrange their idea in an orderly manner and then write the essay concisely.
